Institute audio cassettes -- An
unabridged leisure reading collection is offered on Braille Institute's
four-track audio cassettes.
The library also provides the following
equipment to aid reading and accessing information.
The
Reading Edge / a Kurzwell Reader -- This
is a stand-alone reading machine designed to help people who are
blind or visually impaired. It electronically scans printed
material and then reads aloud the words in the text in English or
in Spanish.
Vantage
CCD Magnifier -- This equipment
displays on a screen an enlarged image of whatever is placed under
the lens. The degree of magnification is adjustable with additional
features available to assist visibility.
The library video and DVD collections
offer many titles with closed captioning for the hearing impaired.
