OXNARD CITYWATCH TELEVISION
Through Oxnard CityWatch Television, the City of Oxnard provides residents with non-editorial content about municipal deliberations, programs, services and activities for educational and informational purposes.
Oxnard CityWatch Television appears on channel 10 for Spectrum (formerly Time Warner Cable) subscribers and channel 35 for Frontier Communications customers.
Most of the programs aired on CityWatch Television are produced by the Public Relations and Community Affairs Division of the City Manager’s Office. On certain occasions, content by local, state and federal government agencies may air on CityWatch Television when the information benefits and/or is of interest to City residents.
The regular programming schedule for CityWatch Television includes the live broadcast and online streaming of the following meetings:
- Oxnard City Council
- Commission on Homelessness
- Community Development Commission Successor Agency/Oversight Board
- Community Relations Commission
- Cultural Arts Commission
- Inter-Neighborhood Council Organization
- Parks and Recreation Commission
- Planning Commission
Informational slides about city program, services and activities air on CityWatch Television in between video programs. CityWatch Television also airs City-related specials, public service announcements and public safety programs.
OXNARD CITYWATCH TELEVISION OBJECTIVES:
- Increase citizen awareness, understanding, and participation in all areas of municipal government.
- Produce and broadcast programs that educate and encourage the public’s participation in City programs, services, activities and decision-making.
PROGRAMMING PRIORITIES:
- Public proceedings and meetings that involve city officials
- Programs that inform the public about City programs, services and activities
- Emergency information involving public safety and/or health
- Programs that explain City programs and policies
- Programs that solicit resident input on City programs and policies
- Programs that feature special events and historic occurrences in the City
- Programs that feature City-related information of general interest to residents
- Programming from state, federal or government agency programs that are of interest to residents
PROGRAMMING SCHEDULE:
- City Council meetings are broadcast live every Tuesday of the month. Closed/study sessions typically begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by the regular session at 6 p.m. The meetings are replayed Wednesday through Sunday at 10 a.m.
BOARDS, COMMISSIONS, COMMITTEES
- Commission on Homelessness meetings are broadcast live the first Monday of the month starting at 3 p.m. The meetings are replayed the second Monday of the month at 3 p.m.
- Community Development Commission Successor Agency/Oversight Board meetings are broadcast live the Third Thursday of every month starting at 4:30 p.m. The meetings are replayed the fourth Thursday of the month at 4:30 p.m.
- Community Relations Commission meetings are broadcast live the third Monday of every month starting at 6 p.m. The meetings are replayed the fourth Monday of the month at 6 p.m.
- Cultural Arts Commission meetings are broadcast live the second Wednesday of the month starting at 5 p.m. The meetings are replayed the third Wednesday of the month at 5 p.m.
- Inter-Neighborhood Council Organization meetings are broadcast live the first Wednesday of the month starting at 7 p.m. The meetings are replayed the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m.
- Parks and Recreation Commission meetings are broadcast live the fourth Wednesday of the month starting at 5:30 p.m. The meetings are replayed the first Monday of the following month at 5:30 p.m.
- Planning Commission meetings are broadcast live the first and third Thursday of every month starting at 7 p.m. The meetings are replayed the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 7 p.m.
