March 4, 2016 by Juan Cortes Date: 12/9/2015 Press Releases Contact: Public Works Department (805) 385-8280 City of Oxnard to host Utility Services Community Conversations The City of Oxnard will host two Community Conversations about the City’s utility services in the coming four weeks to answer questions residents may have as a result of the recent notice of Proposed Utility Rate Increases. The purpose of the meetings is to provide residents and businesses with direct access to the City staff who work at each utility on a daily basis, and provide a significant amount of time for questions and answers. Dates and location for the events are as follows: December 17, 2015 at 6:00 PM and January 13, 2016 at 6:00 PM Oxnard Performing Arts Center Ventura Room 800 Hobson Way Oxnard, CA 93030 Evening Agenda • Presentation on Utility Services • Question and Answer Conversation • Educational Mingle With Utility Staff In addition to representatives from the utility services, the City Manager Greg Nyhoff, Assistant City Manager Scott Whitney, Interim Public Works Director Dan Rydberg and Finance Director Joseph Lillio will participate in the presentation and answer questions. “The City’s utilities are facing critical issues on both the infrastructure and financial front. We areproactively seeking solutions to community challenges, so public engagement and transparency in the process are critical,” said Greg Nyhoff, City Manager. “The fundamental city services—water, wastewater and trash services—are at stake and require the attention of the community.” These two Community Conversations are happening concurrent with a series of wastewater plant tours the City has announced. The City of Oxnard is in the midst of a 45-day notification and feedback period. A public hearing will be held at the end of the period on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 6:00 PM in Council Chambers regarding potential utility rate increases.
