Two workshops will be held on Saturday, November 14 starting at 10 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. in the ASB room at Pacifica High School (600 E. Gonzales). Two more workshops will take place on Wednesday, November 18 starting at 2:30 p.m. and again at 4:00 p.m. in Meeting Room B at the Oxnard Main Library (251 S. A Street). These four sessions are scheduled to provide residents, business owners, and other stakeholders ample opportunity to participate. “Our project team worked closely with the community to put together a vision for the Oxnard Blvd. corridor,” said Chris Williamson, Principal Planner with the City’s Planning Division. “We look forward to presenting the final draft plan to the people who helped create it.” Each workshop will include an overview of the final draft Oxnard Corridor plan followed by a question and answer session. Each workshop will include easy-to-understand project materials, light refreshments, and prizes. Children’s activities will be provided during the Saturday sessions. Workshop participants will be entered into a random drawing for a Thanksgiving turkey during each session. The first workshops, held in November 2014, asked participants to identify issues and concerns within each of eight corridor segments. The second, held in April 2015, presented initial recommendations and asked for further community input. This month’s workshops are designed to show the recommended draft corridor plan – new signalized intersections, roundabouts, street realignment, downtown improvements, new bus routes and stops – and ask for feedback from the public. The Oxnard Corridor Plan will guide transportation improvements along Oxnard Blvd. from Highway 101 to Pleasant Valley Road, as well as on adjacent portions of Vineyard Avenue and Fifth Street. Goals of the project include identifying safety issues; reconfiguring lanes and medians to allow two-way transit service; and upgrading to ADA-compliant sidewalks, lightings, and street crossings. The project is being funded through a $250,000 Caltrans transportation planning grant.
