March 4, 2016 by Juan Cortes Date: 1/19/2016 Press Releases Contact: Economic Development (805) 385-7407 City Seeks Public Input on Downtown Oxnard Vision The City is seeking public input on a vision for downtown Oxnard. From January 29-February 2, 2016, the City will host a five-day downtown revitalization charrette. The Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) California Chapter will lead the charrette. The CNU, a non-profit volunteer professional organization of experts dedicated to promoting sustainable communities and healthier living conditions, is a leader in the field of planning and urban design. The five-day process includes a kickoff event, a film festival, a walking tour, a design pin-up and a City Council presentation. Each event is open to the public. “This is a great opportunity for the public to weigh in on the future of downtown Oxnard. Additionally, we are working with a local grassroots organization dedicated to advancing the same cause,” said Kymberly Horner, the City’s Economic Development Director. “The charrette is an economical approach to creating a downtown vision plan, by using the services of CNU, a non-profit organization,” said Horner.
