October 26, 2005, Wednesday.  Departing at 8:30 a.m. we drive to the San Gabriel Mission for a docent tour of this, the fourth of the California Missions.  We will see four of the restored early buildings and learn about the various styles of architecture used by the padres in 1818.  The museum, Church, grounds and gardens are all included.  Yes, there is a Gift Shop.

We then travel to Olvera Street, El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument, for an afternoon visit. A "no-host lunch" and plenty of time to shop and visit some of the many historic sites.  A "must-see" is the free 18 minute film Pueblo of Promise, on the history of Los Angeles.  This is shown in the Sepulveda House Visitors' Center. This center also features exhibits that highlight the Monument's Collections and little explored segments of Los Angeles history.  We will try to have maps and other information for all of the group.

Departure at 8:30 a.m., return at 4:30 p.m.
