Average first response travel time is the amount of time it takes for a unit to drive to the call location. These calls are all Code 3 responses where units have lights and sirens indicating to the public to pull over to the right. The travel time goal is 4 minutes (240 seconds). The reason that this is our time goal is because our travel time plus our turnout time should put a fire unit at any location in the city in about 5 minutes. Travel time is dictated by roadways, traffic, trains, weather, and distance. A responding unit must travel quickly but safely because if they either cause a collision or get into one they will be unable to continue the call. It is one of our most variable and difficult metrics to meet as units often have significant distances to travel. You can filter this data by the following call types:
- Fire
- Hazardous Condition
- Medical High
- Medical Emergency
- Public Service
- Rescue
- Structure Fire
- Traffic Collision
- Vehicle Fire
- Weather Related
