OXNARD COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISSION TO HONOR LOCAL LEADERS
Oxnard, California. The City of Oxnard’s Community Relations Commission (CRC) recently announced the winners of the 2017 Community Recognition Awards Program. The program invites the public to nominate youth, seniors, individuals, businesses and organizations that have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in the Oxnard community.
This year’s recipients are: Ashley Limon (Outstanding Youth), Celeste Gamino (Outstanding Individual), Marvin Boos (Outstanding Senior), Ventura County Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc (Outstanding Community-Based Organization), and Schneiders & Associates, LLP (Outstanding Business).
All five recipients will be honored during the ceremonial calendar portion of the Oxnard City Council Meeting on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, in the Council Chambers, 305 West 3rd Street, 1st Floor, starting at 6 PM. Family, friends and the public are invited to attend.
The CRC and the City of Oxnard started the awards program back in 1989. These awards recognize deserving individuals and groups that have furthered human relations in the Oxnard community. The nomination criteria is any youth, senior, individual, business or organization that works or performs community services in Oxnard. The selection committee reviews all applications and chooses a winner in each category based on its selection criteria.
The City of Oxnard’s Community Relations Commission consists of seven members appointed to identify and advise the City Council on problems of discrimination in the community and to promote better human relations among all city residents.
