Public Housing
Established in 1945, the Oxnard Housing Authority (OHA) owns and operates 520 units of federally subsidized low-income public housing. One hundred and seventy (170) units are located in Colonia Village, one hundred (100) family units are adjacent to Pleasant Valley Road in South Oxnard, six (6) apartment complexes totaling one hundred (100) family units are located throughout the City and two (2) senior citizen buildings with a total of one hundred fifty (150) units are located in central downtown Oxnard.
Units range in size from 1 bedroom to 5 bedrooms and are assigned based on family composition.
Residents living in any of the above public housing units pay rent directly to the Housing Authority based upon a percentage of the family’s adjusted Annual Income. Rents are based solely on adjusted Annual Income or the flat rent option by families.
