The State of California requires all public water utilities to prepare an Urban Water Management Plan every five years to provide consumers and stakeholders an updated status and plan for their local water system including:
- Water deliveries and uses
- Water supply sources
- Efficient water uses
- Demand management measures
- Water shortage contingency planning
2020 Urban Water Management Plan
The City of Oxnard is currently working on the 2020 Urban Water Management Plan. The plan details long-term resource planning to ensure that adequate water supplies are available to meet existing and future water needs. In conjunction with the Urban Water Management Plan, a separate Water Shortage Contingency Plan, is also being prepared. The Water Shortage Contingency Plan outlines how an urban water supplier will respond to various stages of a drought or a prolonged shortage caused by other events. A draft of the reports is expected in late May.
Check back soon to review the draft.
A virtual community informational meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM. More details on registration coming soon.
2015 Urban Water Management Plan
The 2015 UWMP was prepared in compliance with the Water Conservation Act of 2009, also known as SBX 7-7, under the authorization of the City of Oxnard. Oxnard has undertaken several planning efforts since the 2010 UWMP, including the Public Works Integrated Master Plan, which has been used as a significant source for the 2015 UWMP.
