Have you ever wondered where your water comes from – or where that water goes when it goes down the drain?
The City of Oxnard is pleased to provide free tours of our water facilities. On the tours, you’ll learn how your water is mixed, how it’s treated, and what happens to everything that goes down the drain. Meet staff, ask questions and get an inside peek into the facilities that make Oxnard’s water system work.
The City of Oxnard has three main water facilities:
- Desalter Facility – where groundwater is run through desalination and prepared for mixing with other water sources.
- Advanced Water Purification Facility – a facility that recycles water that would otherwise be lost to the ocean.
- Wastewater Treatment Plant – where liquids and solids are separated and water is purified before being returned to the water cycle.
If you are interested in a tour or would like more information, please contact us at WaterConservation@oxnard.org or by calling 805-385-3905.
