Oxnard, CA – Oxnard City Manager Alexander Nguyen announced the appointment of Jeffery Lambert as Oxnard’s new Development Services Director. Mr. Lambert will begin Feb. 4, 2019.
Lambert most recently served as the Community Development Director for the City of Ventura for nearly ten years. In this role, Lambert managed current and advanced Planning, Building and Safety, Code Enforcement and Economic Development. During Mr. Lambert’s recent time with the City of Ventura he played a leadership role in many key accomplishments such as the public/private partnership with Community Memorial Hospital’s new in-patient facility and parking structure, the Ventura Botanical Gardens, the Amgen tour hosting City, homelessness shelter policy and action, the further development of the City’s historic downtown, and the Thomas Fire recovery and rebuild efforts.
“Mr. Lambert is action oriented and is committed to building a strong development team, continuing community engagement, and improving stakeholder partnerships to get things done,” Nguyen said. “Jeff’s experience and leadership will help Oxnard become a more business friendly City; he will jumpstart our planning, building, and permitting processes to make projects easier for builders and homeowners.”

Prior to Ventura, Mr. Lambert had his own consulting firm focusing on representing developers and public agencies across much of Southern California and previously he was the Planning and Building Services Director for the City of Santa Clarita for eight years. In addition, Mr. Lambert has served in many leadership roles with the American Planning Association including President of the California Chapter and a member of the National Board of Directors. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, member of the Urban Land Institute, most recently chairing a Local Assistance Panel advising the Huntington Hospital and the City of Pasadena.
Mr. Lambert holds a bachelor’s degree from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts and a Master’s in Planning from the University of Southern California.
