Community Emergency Training
Oxnard residents depend on the Fire Department to respond to emergencies in four minutes or less after calling 911. However, if you call 911 immediately after a disaster, it could take hours or days to get help. To help residents prepare for this, the Oxnard Fire Department offers FREE training taught by Oxnard Firefighters that teaches you how to be self sufficient during a disaster. For six weeks, one night a week from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., students receive classroom and hands on training. The final class provides participants with an opportunity to participate in a full scale disaster exercise. No special skills are needed.
