We have several metrics that we use to determine that our emergency units are appropriately placed throughout the city. The metrics we would like to share with you include:
- Average Medical Turnout Time
- Average Non-Medical Turnout Time
- Average First Response Travel time
- Personnel On Scene Time
A description of each of these metrics can be found on their web pages, which can be accessed using the above links. Here is how you can use the graphic to understand our response statistics. Please note that the colored areas of the map do not refer to response areas; they refer to districts within the City. Each call type can be filtered to show reserve apparatus response times as well. Reserve units are used when front-line response equipment is not available. Automatic aid refers to calls where a fire unit goes to an adjacent city; for example Engine 64 can respond to Ventura City for outgoing automatic aid calls, and a Ventura County engine 53 can respond into the City of Oxnard for automatic aid.
