How and Where to Borrow Electronic Devices
Electronic devices listed here are available at circulation desks upon request. Chromebooks are available for library use only with a signed agreement, terms can be found below. By signing this agreement you confirm that you understand that there will be fees associated with returning the equipment late or damaged. Signing means you also accept and agree to pay for replacement and processing cost of equipment that is returned damaged, unusable, stolen, lost, or otherwise not returned.
How to Return Devices
All electronic equipment must be returned to a staff member at a circulation desk during our open hours. Please do not place any devices in the book returns.
Chromebooks
Chromebooks come as a kit, with a notebook-type PC, a two-part power cable, and a carrying bag. The patron is liable to pay for the replacement of all items if lost or damaged. For library use only with a library card and temporary holding of a valid ID (see below for acceptable forms of identification): First-time checkouts require a filled contract, available at circulation desks. Besides the attached keyboard, the Chromebook also has a touchpad for pointer movement and touchscreen capabilities.

Acceptable Forms of ID for Chromebook Use
Acceptable forms of valid California identification with current address are:
Valid California identification card with current residence address
OR, any item from EACH of the list:
Name Verification – Current photo identification card, including but not limited to:
Passport, issued by the United States or other government
Permanent Resident identification (aka, Green Card)
Military identification
School-issued Student identification
Employee identification
Out-of-state Driver’s License

Chromebook Terms of Use
Laptop Borrowing Terms of Service
- Borrowers are required to have an Oxnard Public Library Card in good standing and be at least 18 years of age.
- Laptops may be placed on hold through the library catalog www.oxnard.org/library Search the term “laptop”.
- One Chromebook per person.
- Laptop are to be used in the library only. They will be checked out on an active library card. The user must provide a valid CA ID with current address. The user is free to use the equipment until 15 minutes before the library closes.
- There is no fee to borrow a Chromebook. However, if the equipment is not returned, the user will be responsible for paying for the cost of the item.
- The borrower accepts full responsibility for late, damaged, stolen, lost, or unreturned equipment.
- Users may not add or remove apps, download any programs, or change the configuration of the Chromebook in any way.
- Equipment must be handed to Library Circulation Staff at the lending branch library upon return. Book drop returns or leaving the equipment on a public service desk are NOT permitted.
- The condition of the equipment will be verified and any damage noted by Library staff at the time of check out and check in.
- Equipment is cleared of all documents, information, and data when it is returned. Oxnard Public Library is not responsible for lost documents.
- Library staff are unable to retrieve lost documents or data.
- Staff will assist with basic computer usage questions but are not available for extensive training. Users are expected to have a working knowledge of computers and programs before checking items out.
- Oxnard Public Library reserves the right to update terms of equipment use policies and agreements at any time.
- The borrower agrees to abide by the Oxnard Public Library Code of Conduct and internet use policies
- Laptops will be deactivated once they become overdue.

- El personal apoyará con preguntas básicas sobre el uso del equipo, mas no está disponible para instrucción extensa. Se espera que los usuarios tengan conocimiento práctico sobre computación antes de retirar artículos.
- La Biblioteca Pública de Oxnard se reserva el derecho de actualizar los términos y condiciones de servicio de préstamo en cualquier momento.
- El prestatario acepta cumplir con el Código de Conducta de la Biblioteca Pública de Oxnard y las políticas de uso de Internet.
