SEEKING VENDORS FOR OXNARD’S MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL
Oxnard, California. The City of Oxnard is currently seeking arts & crafts vendors for its 22nd Annual Oxnard Multicultural Festival. This year’s festival will be held in Downtown Plaza Park on Saturday, October 7, 2017, from 11 AM – 5 PM. Admission is Free. Information and applications are now available to download from the city’s website at Oxnard.org. The 2017 festival will feature live music, dance performances, food trucks, vendor booths, exhibitors, demonstrations, arts & crafts and plenty of family-fun activities. New attractions for this year will include a youth art exhibit being presented by the Oxnard Scholars After-School Program. The art work will be displayed at the festival and will center around this year’s theme, Stronger Together In Unity For Peace.
Also new to this year’s event will be the Peace Parade, a community gathering for solidarity. The parade, organized by Citizens For A Better Oxnard, will include a walk from La Colonia neighborhood to downtown Plaza Park. Participants will walk side-by-side with family, friends, neighbors, Oxnard city officials, and members of the Oxnard Police Department. The parade will be lead by a selection of classic cars. After the parade, the cars will park in formation for an official Show and Shine featuring local car clubs.
The Oxnard Multicultural Festival is presented by the City of Oxnard’s Community Relations Commission (CRC). The CRC is an official City of Oxnard Citizen Advisory Group. The seven members of the CRC are appointed by City Council to identify and advise on problems of discrimination in the community and to promote better human relations among all city residents. The CRC meets monthly in the Council Chambers.
