Future Operation Neighborhood Uplift Events
In many communities graffiti attracts trash and trash attracts crime. The Broken Window Theory is well documented. The Graffiti Task Force sponsors Operation Neighborhood Uplift clean up events that primarily focus on the City’s alleyways. The Graffiti Task Force Administrator and the Oxnard Police Department Beat Coordinators identify problem alleyways in the City that have fallen into decline. These areas are then focused on utilizing additional City resources to address Code Compliance and illegal dumping issues. The area is then scheduled for an Extreme Makeover, City style. Community volunteers and City Staff work to clean the alleyway of weeds, trash graffiti thus restoring community pride.
Community volunteers are the key to the success of these neighborhood restoration events! If you would like to volunteer a few hours during these events, please call Maria Chavez with City Corps at 385-8274.
