The City of Oxnard is Accepting District 2 City Councilmember Appointment Applications from January 6 through January 20, 2021

OXNARD, Calif. – The Oxnard City Council will appoint a District 2 City Councilmember to serve a limited term that will end on November 2, 2021, the date of a special election that will be called for District 2 voters to choose a representative to complete Carmen Ramirez’s City Council term through 2022. Ramirez was sworn in as a Ventura County Supervisor on January 5, 2021.

Residents of District 2 (map attached) who are interested in applying for the temporary appointment to fill the Council vacancy can download the application here. The only requirements are that an applicant must be a resident of District 2 and a registered voter. Applications are due to the Office of the City Clerk by January 20, 2021, by 6 p.m.

After the application period closes, the City Council will hold a special meeting on Thursday, February 4, 2021. At this meeting the Council will conduct live public interviews with the applicants and vote on an appointment.

La ciudad de Oxnard está aceptando solicitudes de nombramiento de concejales de la ciudad del Distrito 2 desde el 6 de enero hasta el 20 de enero de 2021

OXNARD, Calif. – El Concejo de la Ciudad de Oxnard nombrará a un Concejal de la Ciudad del Distrito 2 para servir por un período limitado que finalizará el 2 de noviembre de 2021, la fecha de una elección especial que se convocará para que los votantes del Distrito 2 elijan un representante para completar el mandato de Carmen Ramírez en el Concejo Municipal hasta 2022. Ramírez prestó juramento como supervisora del condado de Ventura el 5 de enero de 2021.

Los residentes del Distrito 2 (mapa adjunto) que estén interesados en solicitar el nombramiento temporal para cubrir la vacante del Concejo pueden descargar la solicitud aquí. Los únicos requisitos son que el solicitante debe ser residente del Distrito 2 y ser votante registrado. Las solicitudes deben presentarse en la Oficina del Secretario de la Ciudad antes del 20 de enero de 2021 a las 6 p.m.

Una vez que se cierre el período de solicitud, el Concejo Municipal tendrán una reunión especial el jueves 4 de febrero de 2021. En esta reunión, el Concejo realizará entrevistas públicas en vivo con los solicitantes y votará sobre el nombramiento.
